THE FLOWER OF SOLITUDE
The book with music “Cvit samoće” (The Flower of Solitude) is an interdisciplinary and multimedia art project by author and producer Freeda Nera Immortelle (FNI), better known as artist, actress, and singer Nera Stipičević. This book represents a printed, expanded, and English-translated edition of the globally successful humanitarian audio podcast La Fleur de la Solitude (www.freedaneraimmortelle.com), which has been listened to by over 22,000 people in 90 countries so far.
Like all of FNI’s previous acclaimed projects (Freeda, Cvit samoće, Dar, the LFDLS podcast, and the concert Voilà à la Travershe), the book Cvit samoće combines elements of drama, poetry, and music in a hybrid form, reflecting the author’s consistency in merging various artistic disciplines and media.
In the autumn of 2021, the Croatian artist embarked on a three-month artistic residency in Paris. At the same time, life led her through a dark night of the soul, prompting numerous questions and inner reflections. On her authentic and solitary journey, she discovered new talents and confronted old fears, such as playing the piano. Great support came from her friend Monika, whose new apartment in Paris became a fresh start — not only for Monika but also for the artist. On the same day that Monika bought the apartment, the artist gave her first public performance. From that day on, nothing would ever be the same. Monika ambitiously planned to move into the apartment by Christmas, but it wasn’t easy to evict the former tenant, who refused to leave — at least not until he had told his story. Just as old walls must be completely stripped down to lay good new foundations, so too must old stories be fully told before new ones can begin.
